The Hind Foundation and the San Luis Obispo County Community Foundation (SLOCCF) are very pleased to announce the creation of a regional organization that will continue a 15-year tradition of nonprofit management support formerly provided by the Nonprofit Support Center (NSC) of Santa Barbara County. The Nonprofit Support Center of San Luis Obispo (NSCSLO) is being launched with an exciting new vision and strategic business plan to train and empower nonprofits to build their organizational capacity and achieve their missions.

Said Barry VanderKelen, Executive Director of the Community Foundation, "The initial disappointment at losing NSC's programming led us to evaluate how we could re-launch with similar programming and respond to the need expressed by our local nonprofit groups. With very generous seed funding from the Hind Foundation, guidance from Collaboration Consulting, LLC, and the endorsement and funding support of the outgoing NSC leadership, we are able to do so."

NSC has donated the entirety of its Resource Library and computer lab to the new venture, in addition to providing a $15,000 grant to support programming for Santa Maria, an area that also is served by the SLOCCF.   "Our Board was unanimous and delighted to partner with Barry and his team in San Luis Obispo to help them launch new programming that would keep alive NSC's tradition of helping nonprofits build skills and capacity to meet their missions," said Ben Romo, NSC outgoing co-president.

In the upcoming months, several announcements will be made about the new San Luis Obispo County Community Foundation-NSCSLO partnership, a new Board of Directors, a new membership structure, new classes, a new website and a new name and logo.

During this transition period, the NSCSLO office will remain open by appointment only. Please call us at 805-547-2244 if you wish to use our library materials or Resource Center computers. We will also retain the NSC website, so please visit us there at www.supportcenter.org.

Thank you for your continuing support! Keep watching for our announcements. We hope to see you at our Resource Center and Library and in our workshops - SOON!
