The tiny horse in the photo was rescued a few months back. The poor little guy was so ill that he was unable to stand on his own and while being transported to the ranch collapsed inside the horse trailer. We immediately contacted our vet Dr. Holahan and after exanimation Dr. Holahan gave the little horse less than a 20% chance of survival. We hoisted the little guy to his feet and made a makeshift sling and suspended him from the rafters of the quarantine shelter. This poor little guy suffered from founder, slipper feet, sinus infection, mouth abscesses and lice. He was treated around the clock and monitored closely by Dr. Holahan & farrier's Mary Renner and Greg Sartin.

Miraculously this little horse lovingly named Mr.Slippers aka Rocky has beat the odds. He is improving daily, has a huge fan club and is everyone's favorite at the ranch. Slippers is such a wonderful, sweet and gentle little horse that we are using him in our literacy and youth program for children. In the near future Mr.Slippers will be visiting retirement homes, hospitals and schools doing what he does best educating and making people smile.

I just can't thank the Hind Foundation enough for funding this project! Your shelter has enabled us to rescue and re-home so many wonderful horses just like Mr.Slippers and will continue to serve many many more!

Kindest Regards,
