Blue Whale Interactive Exhibits
For The Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History
|
|
In 2010, the Hind Foundation granted $11,600 to Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History for the production and installation of interactive blue whale exhibits. The exhibits are part of the Science PlayLab exhibit held in the Museum’s Luria Hall. The six exhibits provide a fun, hands–on environment that connects kids to nature and science through creative play and experimentation. It offers the whole family a variety of special adventures, to play and learn together, and to foster a sense of wonder for our natural world.
Noteworthy Outcomes
• Greater Expectations
The exhibit grant was gifted after working with the Hind Foundation on the skeleton restoration. The Museum was encouraged by the Foundation to “think big” and expand the scope and size of their originally planned exhibits. With that encouragement and support the exhibits expanded to six interactive stations where families could learn through play.
“Thank you to the entire Hind family for helping the Museum provide so much joy to our visitors, while also providing them with valuable science learning opportunities. These exhibits have helped to connect our beloved Whale with our exhibits, and have been crucial to making Science PlayLab the success that it is.”
