In 2009, the Hind Foundation granted $27,147 to Goleta Valley Beautiful (GVB) for the improvements to the Devereaux Greenhouse, including a new irrigation, heating, ventilation, and sensor system. Currently, GVB is growing 2000 native trees and planting an average of 500 trees annually in the Goleta Valley. The greenhouse improvements will advance GVB's primary goals, which aim to support a healthy urban forest, encourage and recognize outstanding beautification efforts, advocate effective public policies, provide environmental education and promote broad community involvement in GVB beautification projects.
Noteworthy Outcomes
• Improved Propagation
The Devereaux Greenhouse improvements will provide for more efficient operations with increased plant propagation and reduced plant mortality.
