Greenhouse & Infrastructure Improvements
For Transitions Mental Health Association
|
|
In 2008, the Hind Foundation granted $38,000 to Transitions Mental Health Association to upgrade existing greenhouses and needed equipment at their Growing Grounds Farm (GGF). The grant will allow their San Luis Obispo Farm to expand its plant propagation efforts, provide a specialized area of training for client employees, and become a new source in the County for locally collected native plant starts. Funds will also allow the farm to make major capital purchases and improvements to greenhouses and other infrastructure. GGF is a non-profit wholesale nursery and farm that has been providing employment, vocational training, and socialization opportunities to adults with mental illness since 1984.
Noteworthy Outcomes
• Increased Revenue
The expanded plant propagation efforts and greenhouse improvements will produce more plants to be sold, increasing revenue that will continue to expand GGF’s operations.
• Expanded Client Opportunities
Due to the expanded operations and specialized training, TMHA will be able to provide their clients with better skills and increased opportunities to build a balanced life.
• Native Plant Propagation
With more native plants to propagate, Central Coast locals can purchase native plants locally and enjoy the benefits they offer.
