SLO County Guide Dog Veterinary Care

In 2010, the Hind Foundation granted $13,650 to Guide Dogs for the Blind to cover the cost of veterinary care for all Guide Dogs in the San Luis Obispo County area. Guide Dogs for the Blind offers guide dogs and training free-of-charge to blind and visually impaired people throughout the US and Canada; they are funded entirely through private donations such as this.

The grant provided veterinary care for guide dogs in training so they can go on to provide invaluable assistance to those in need.

•    Free Services
The Guide Dogs for the Blind services are provided at no cost to assist the blind, 60 – 80% of which are chronically underemployed or unemployed. In order to keep their program operating and to provide their services at no cost, Guide Dogs for the Blind relies 100% on private donations from generous donors like the Hind Foundation.
