SLO Firefighters' Seagrave Fire Engine

The 1923 truck was SLO’s pivotal investment in modern firefighting because it sent the last of the department’s horses into retirement and brought San Luis Obispo’s fire fighting capability into the modern age. The 1923 Seagrave is no ordinary fire engine and the quest by the SLO City Firefighter’s Association is to salvage and restore a key piece of the city’s past. The SLO County Historical Society and the SLO City Firefighters have formed a partnership to restore the City of San Luis Obispo’s 1923 Seagrave Fire Engine. The Hind Foundation is pleased to have helped the City SLO Firefighters in their restoration project with a $5,000 challenge grant.
