Funding Guidelines
- The Hind Foundation does not fully fund projects; the grantee must demonstrate the organization’s capacity to raise a substantial amount of the funds needed to complete the project.
- Non-profit organizations requesting capital funding for construction, installation and renovation of permanent structures on private property will be limited to the amount of funding.
- The Hind Foundation funds California 501© (3) organizations that have been in existence for more than one year and receive the majority of their funding support from the community in which they are located.
- Grants are awarded on a one-year basis but may be paid over more than one year, if appropriate.
- Organizations that have received funding should allow two full years to elapse between grant proposals.
- Organizations may only apply once a year.
- The Hind Foundation does not make grants to individuals, endowments, national organizations, Community Foundations, private foundations under section 509(a)(1), (2), and (3) of the Internal Revenue Code or organizations based outside the United States.
- The Hind Foundation does not fund advocacy organizations that engage in lawsuits, protests, and other forms of dissent. We favor groups that work with willing partners and support change through cooperate asociations with private and public entities.
- The Foundation avoids organizations primarily supported by endowment funds or by government grants.
