Octagon Barn
The Octagon Barn is a historically and culturally important structure built in the 1900.
This barn is made with redwood timbers and has a compacted fill floor (77 feet across) and a concrete foundation. The polygonal shape approached that of a circle, which reduced the amount of material to build, but added to the complexity of the building project.
The Land Conservancy has provided the leadership to bring together generous contributions of passionate caring, skills, in kind donations to fully restore it to a functional barn. The Hind Foundation has provided a $26,000 grant to have custom redwood shingles fabricated from old submerged redwood trees to maintain the authenticity of the barn.
